2 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

3 APPROVAL OF LAST MONTHS MINUTES
The Minutes were approved and signed by the Chairman as a true and accurate
record of last months meeting.
4 CRIME/NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
Mr Bill Westcott reported that there was little or no response made by police
when using the police 101 telephone number. Mr Braithwaite reported a similar experience.
5 COUNTY/DISTRICT COUNCILLOR
Mr Mike Lewis reported that the Local Plan was coming to a close and there should
be a conclusion on the 6th of November. He also reported that the mobile library will
become a thing of the past if it is not supported. Castle Cary library is unchanged and
will stay as it is.
Mr Brathwaite reported large potholes at the avenue T junction to
Castle Cary at least 2 inches deep. A note was made and a note to Highways will be sent in
due course. Residents concerns about traffic speed on The Avenue/London Road were
brought to the attention of councillors. The long-awaited Small Improvements Scheme plans
from Highways to help with traffic calming are promised by the end of the month.
7 PLANNING DECISIONS
14/03789/FUL Animal shelter and feed store, Church Road. Approved.
8 PLANNING APPLICATIONS
An application for change-of-use of Sparkford Hall had just been received and
will be circulated to councillors.
9 MATTERS ARISING
Mc Donalds need a reminder regarding the collection of rubbish in the
10 PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS
a) Clerks Salary & Expenses
The Clerks salary and expenses of £198.35 were approved.
Mudford Action Group asked Sparkford PC for possible financial support to fight
against the proposed housing development near them. There was no proposal to make a grant.
12 ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Mr Downton reported that the Parish News is still being printed without cost to
the Parish. Councillors expressed their sadness at the resignation of our Parish
Clerk due to ill health. All agreed that her contribution to the Parish Council has been
exceptional and wished to record their heart-felt thanks for everything that she has done.
The position will be advertised in the Parish News.
13 COUNTY/DISTRICT COUNCILLOR
Mr Mike Lewis expressed his gratitude for the help he has received from Mrs Karen
Bourke while she has been Parish Clerk, which has made his job a lot easier and will be
He thanked the PC for their offer of £100 towards the correct registration of Cherry Pie
Lane with the Land Registry, but was hopeful that the District Council would not need to
call on it.
